We are very pleased to announce that our new book : Low Borrowbridge – Two thousand years in the Lune Gorge, Tebay has now been published. The book looks at the development of Borrowbridge from the Roman period to the present day, taking in the development of the droving route, packhorse tracks, turnpike, railway and eventually motorway.
The book runs to 200 pages with 98 illustrations and photographs, 18 of which are in full colour. Included are extensive appendices detailing the wills and inventories of occupants of the Borrowbridge farms from the Sixteenth to Nineteenth Centuries, as well as Tithe Apportionments, census and trade directory returns.
We have a limited print run of 50 books available for purchase at our meetings or from the website. They are priced to cover costs at £15 per copy, discounted to £12 for LAS members (plus £3 P&P if ordering by post from email@example.com). Any donations above the cost price will be put to the LAS Research Fund, to support future work by the society.
